What we collect

Account data: name, email, postal address (print subscribers), hashed password, billing country.
Usage data: articles read, time on page, referrer, device type, approximate location derived from IP (city level).
Payment data: handled by Stripe Payments UK Ltd; we store only the last four digits and card brand for receipts.

§ 3

Why we process it

  • To deliver subscriptions and newsletters (contractual necessity).
  • To prevent fraud, abuse and credential‑stuffing (legitimate interest).
  • To measure aggregate readership and improve the Service (legitimate interest, opt‑out via cookie banner).
  • To send marketing about Blitz Voltage titles only with your consent.
§ 4

How long we keep it

Account data is retained for the life of your subscription plus 24 months. Anonymised analytics are retained for 26 months and then aggregated. Comment history is retained until you delete your account. Billing records are kept for 7 years to meet HMRC requirements.

§ 5

We never sell personal data. We share strictly limited data with: Stripe (payments), Postmark (transactional email), Fastly (CDN logs, 48‑hour retention), Plausible Analytics (cookieless aggregate stats) and our auditors BDO LLP. All processors are bound by data‑processing agreements under Article 28 UK GDPR.

§ 6

International transfers

Some processors operate outside the UK. Transfers to the EEA rely on the UK adequacy decision; transfers to the United States are covered by the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses where required.

§ 7

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request access, correction, deletion, portability or restriction of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Submit requests to [email protected]; we respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).

§ 8

Cookies

We use a single first‑party session cookie for login and a small set of preference cookies (theme, region). Analytics is cookieless via Plausible. You can review or withdraw consent at any time using "Cookie Settings" in the footer.
